Brief traveler's notes:
The town of Siem Reap (Siemréab map) is very close to the Angkor Complex.
Siem Reap has a small international airport that has regular 45 minute flights from Bangkok.
There are numerous hotels for every price range. I stayed at a local hotel - Neak Pean Hotel for 3 nights at $35US per night for a single - my room was not luxurious but fine. (My stay was too short - I would recommend at least a week's stay.)
The food there was great with dinner entrees at the Hotel averaging $3US.
The Cambodian people have a very pleasant and peaceful manner.

The average wage rate in the country is about $1US per day, so street merchants are numerous and persistent.
